After winning this mark, Djokovic has become the first player to reach the milestone of winning 36 Masters 1000 titles. The 33-year-old tennis star has won 31 out of 32 matches in 2020 including his winnings in the Australian Open, Dubai, Cincinnati, which was hosted in New York, and Rome. Djokovic has become the oldest tennis player to achieve such milestones in the story of tennis. Djokovic started the game with a lead of service and later took the vibe away from his opponent.

Indian Premier League season 13 began on 19th September 2020 with the first match held between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and last reason runner up Chennai Super Kings. The BCCI secretary stated that a record of 20 crore people watched the first match of this season. Since the tournament is being held in the UAE when the world is fighting against the Coronavirus, authorities have released several precautionary guidelines for players and organizations of matches. There will be no fans present in the stadiums. To normalize the experience, fake crowd sound effects shall be used. EPL Cites Strong Financial Impacts After Pandemic Restrictions Re-Extended

One of the greatest and richest sports leagues in the world, English Premier League has stated that it is facing devastating financial impacts due to having no fans present in the stadiums. The pandemic restrictions on the presence of fans during the matches may extend by more than 6 months from October. The statement has come as a response to such speculations. Adding further the league said that the game is not financially sustainable without its fans and has not been the same as ever before. Several boards and authorities have asked the government to release financial aids for sports. The government does not seem to be easing the restrictions on the presence of fans due to the rise in cases of Coronavirus spread in the region. On 25th September 2020, the number of cases in the country crossed 416K with more than 41,902 deaths.

Investigation Undergoes After Neymar’s Claims of Having Received Racist Remarks

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr slapped and accused Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez of passing racist remarks during a Ligue 1 match played on 14th September 2020. The match became the center of controversy after five players were sent off because of their alleged involvement in the matter. Alvaro Gonzalez came out defending himself on twitter. He tweeted “There is no place for racism. A clean career and with many team-mates and friends on a day to day basis. Sometimes you have to learn how to lose and accept it on the field. Incredible three points today.” Neymar Jr has been given a two-match ban for the red card he received during the match for his dismissal. An enquiry has been set up on Alvaro Gonzalez to investigate the charges of passing racist remarks. Despite the several cases of racist abuse in the league in recent years, the French Football Federation does not seem to be accepting the claims made by players allegedly being passed racist remarks and calling racism non-existent in football.
