Subtitle: Worldwide leader in hard disk drives and storage solutions
signs asknet to manage eCommerce portal and digital rights.
Karlsruhe, San Francisco (euro adhoc) - May 17, 2011 - asknet, a
leading provider of global eCommerce solutions that increase sales
and expand markets for software and digital media companies, is
partnering with Seagate to develop a secure, integrated, and scalable
global eCommerce service for Seagate distribution channel customers.
asknet will manage eCommerce activities and digital rights for
Seagate® Rescue | Restore™ software, the Seagate system recovery
solution that makes it simpler and more cost-effective for small
businesses, VARs, system builders and IT managers to service hard
drives corrupted by viruses and other intrusions.
"Seagate customers wanted a powerful, fast and simple solution for
hard drive recovery and restoration, so we needed the expertise and
flexible platform to deliver Rescue | Restore™ software," said David
Looney, Executive Director of Market Development at Seagate. "asknet
answered the challenge with its platform technology, localization
capabilities and the ability to deploy Rescue | Restore™ software
globally on our demanding timeline."
Rescue | Restore software can restore a corrupted hard drive to
factory fresh settings in as little as 10 minutes. The Seagate
software helps reduce field support costs, increase customer
satisfaction and deliver incremental revenue streams for Seagate
customers.
Seagate´s new Rescue | Restore online portal offers customers a set
of five licenses at no charge for evaluation purposes. Additional
licenses are priced by bundle size, ranging from 10 to 10,000
licenses for larger companies. asknet is responsible for Rescue |
Restore license management and the activation gateway to support
digital rights management, online purchases, regionally optimized
payment methods and currencies, order confirmations and order
management. Seagate expects to offer additional products targeted at
the reseller market through the asknet online portal in the near
future.
"We are very excited to be working with Seagate, the no. 1
manufacturer of hard drives and storage solutions," said Mark Begin,
President of asknet Inc. "We are honored to be chosen as the solution
able to meet the demanding requirements of this strategic program. It
highlights one of asknet´s core strengths of providing a flexible,
open framework and business model to meet the unique needs of global
eCommerce, where others offer only static one-size-fits-all
approaches."
asknet provides international consumers with an easy, satisfying
online shopping experience, leading to higher conversions, sales and
retention rates, and lower abandonment issues. Within a short
timeframe, the scalable eCommerce platform can manage from one
domestic eShop to over 170 secure and cost-effective localized
eShops. asknet´s global eCommerce platform enables businesses to
access markets with 31 shop languages, 40 billing currencies and 12

options including WebMoney, and Alipay.
